Your whole life you’ve probably been told that getting a college diploma is one of the most important things you’ll ever do. Now, you have spent the past four or so years working towards this moment.
Are you excited? Scared? A little bit (or a lot) of both?
Tell us your story.
We are putting together an audio documentary on the unique challenges faced by the 2011 graduating class… challenges our parents and teachers could have never imagined when they hoped we would pursue an education.
If you are interested in participating, call 312-646-0437 and leave a message with your story. It will go to voicemail, so no pressure. (Google Voice limits voicemails to 3 minutes, if you need more time, call back)
We ask that you include the following info along with your story:
-Your first name (don’t worry about the last, we don’t need it).
-What degree(s) you are graduating with.
-Total estimated amount of student loan debt (if any).
If you’re not sure what to say, think about how you would answer the following questions…
-Are you ready to graduate? Are you nervous? Excited? Terrified out of your freaking mind?
-Do you have a job lined up yet? Do you think there are jobs out there?
-Do you think you will be able to pay back all of your student loans (if you have any)? How old do you think you will be when you do?
-Are there co-signers on your loans? What is your relationship to them? Do you feel pressure from them?
-How likely do you think it is that you’ll go into the field you studied?
-Was college worth it? If you had a do-over what would you change?
-Do you feel like college has prepared you for the big bad world out there?
Thanks so much for taking the time to participate, we really look forward to hearing all of your responses.
If you have any questions feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org
P.S. By leaving a message you are giving us permission to use your voice for the project, understood?
